Free OpenFOAM training at the Oregon State University

Prof. Hrvoje Jasak will hold a two day OpenFOAM training at the beginning of June at the Oregon State University, hosted by the College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences and the Department of Mathematics. More information can be found below and here.

OpenFOAM is an open source tool box for solution of continuum mechanics problems, including computational fluid dynamics. It is written in c++, and has a syntax that allows partial differential equations and tensorial operations to be represented in code that resembles the equations being solved. Numerical solution is performed through the finite volume and finite area methods, with meshing tools provided that allow dynamic meshes. With a large user and developer community OpenFOAM is updated frequently, with developed code for many modelling applications that range from turbulence models, large eddy simulation, stress analysis, thermodynamics, chemistry, electromagnetics, molecular dynamics … and much more. You are invited to join OpenFOAM developer, Dr. Hrvoje Jasak, to explore the power and utility of OpenFOAM. We will also initiate the Pacific NW OpenFOAM usergroup during this workshop, and you are invited to join the group.

When: June 3-4, 2019

Where: Oregon State University, Strand Ag 363

Instructor: Dr. Hrvoje Jasak. Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, University of Zagreb, Croatia.

For Whom: This is a free training course for anyone interested in developing computational fluid dynamics expertise using OpenFOAM. To express your interest and register your intent to attend please email with a brief introduction of your interest.

Cost: Free. Catering will not be provided, so please be prepared to purchase lunch.

Come join us in the lovely Willamette Valley to become familiar with and build skills in OpenFOAM. The workshop is open to anyone interested. Corvallis has a variety of accommodation options. The most convenient to the workshop venue is the Hilton Garden Inn. If you are flying here there are good connections through Portland International Airport (PDX) and Eugene airport (EUG). If you do not wish to rent a car to travel from the airport to Corvallis, the Hutt Shuttle will drop you off at the Hilton Garden Inn.
